MENTORING FOR LIFE AND LEADERSHIP by Herman A. Moldez, MDiv, DD

A mentor is not necessarily an expert but one who simply journey with someone in his struggle in life. Mentoring is to experience that we are not alone in our struggle and sin. If we are being mentored, it gives us an inner strength to seek for God's mercy and grace and to keep moving on. We mature out of our own failure. Mentors are those whom God sent to guide us and direct our paths to Christ.

LIVING A MENTORED LIFE
Thousands of Christian leaders have moved out of ministry because there was no one there to mentor them during the times when they were on the brink of giving up. It has been sad that leadership is a lonely work. It can be, if leaders don't connect with people who can be their friends.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A MENTORING LEADERSHIP
a. It is a transformational leadership.
They are seekers-sensitive, always giving what the people need. Looking for things that will pacify their heart's desire. Develop a community of people who dare to journey the road less traveled and swim against the tide. Mentoring leadership invests in people development. However, what they don't realize is that, no matter how good the programs are, if the people are not growing spiritually, leadership is doomed to failure. programs are good only to the extent that the people are growing in there passion for the Lord. Transformational leaders exemplify what they teach. They model what life in Christ is.
b. It is a relational leadership.
Christian leaders is to let their people grow by releasing control.
Talk less and listen more. Touch people's heart and not just teach people's head.
Life's journey is surrounded by trials and troubles, temptations and testing. How easy it is for leaders to lose heart at times.

It is the assurance that one is never alone in the journey that sustains one's capacity to finish in the race of life.

THE SPIRITUALITY OF VULNERABILITY
God invites us to walk with Him in the dark alley and deep valley of life to experience the reality of His  presence.. This does not deny the work of God to heal the sick, to restore broken marriages, to grow struggling churches to mega churches. But we must not deprive ourselves of encountering God in human weakness and suffering.

It takes much of God's love and grace to learn to feel secure in admitting it.
I learn to invite God to heal me. I start to seek God's forgiveness.

LIVING THE SPIRITUALITY OF VULNERABILITY
God's love is felt deeply in times of suffering. God can make Himself very real even in His silence. God is at His best when life is at its worst. Let's learn to listen more and talk less.

Struggling leaders would rather fight their own battles to prove that they are strong, that they can manage on their own. But by acting like Rambo, a leader's pain can only deepen and his pride all the more wounded.

KEEPING SECRET BURDENS
When we disconnect our lives from others, we only create our own loneliness. Whenever we keep our burdens a secret from people who care for us, we all the more suffer.

SHARING OUR BURDENS
Secret burdens cause loneliness and deepen our wounds. If we want to find healing, we must be willing to open our hearts to others.

By giving others the privilege of helping us carry our burdens, we bless them and love them well. That's how the law of love works.

Who's your :
SOUL FRIEND-
SOUL GUIDE-
SOUL MATE-

If we are full of self, we cannot lead.

Busyness in the Lord's work is just to cover up for a troubled heart.

His words that touch our hearts slowly heal our wounds and comfort our pain.

We experience God when we listen to Him and the reality of His presence become a flame of Love that burns in our heart.

god wants us to invite Him in. And once we do, be prepared for the unexpected.

Without the discipline of solitude, we will become strangers in our own hearts; more than that, we will feel the absence of God.

to God be the Glory
