Surrender

Before we surrender to God, we are doing everything under our own power. The power that could not prevent the problem is not going to be the power that will fix it. You don't have it in you- your sinful nature and sick mind- to find answers that will fix the problem. Your life has most likely already proven that what you have within you and the remedies you have attempted are not enough to satisfy your appetites and do battle to regain freedom. Your only hope is to find victory by surrendering your life to Go. Admit to God that the problem grew out of control under your own power. Believe that God cares about you and will fill you with His power and change your life through that power. Then allow God to do it.

Surrender means you no longer try to face the problem alone. With God and fellow strugglers, you empower yourself to do a single day without responding to your appetite. Or maybe one day is too long. Perhaps you have to take life one hour at a time, surrendering more and more of yourself to God's control. Agree to be less agitated with what is out of control, and be courageous to work hard with what is in your control. Surrender is the beginning to healing. Surrender to God is giving up and giving in, not to defeat, but to a new way of living that can lead to the satisfaction of all your appetites. It also brings your life back under control. God cannot fight this battle for you. He will stand beside you, providing you with all you need to win hands down. But its is up to you to use what He offers and to fight the fight.
